Solar Electricity - Federal Government Rebates & Incentives.
If you install a Solar PV grid connect system in any location you are eligible to receive a REC's incentive as a point of sale discount.
REC's for solar PV is calculated over a 15yr period & paid upfront as a point of sale discount
1 REC = 1MW of green electricity 'made' per yr
REC's value can fluctuate but as an average you will receive between $12 & $46 per REC.
Each postcode is different but in 5000 if you installed a 1.575KW system you would receive 32 certificates.
REC's Multiplier
In June 2009 the Federal Government removed the $8000 grant for home owners & replaced it with a REC's multiplier of 5 for systems installed that are under 1.5KW
For the same 1.575kw system installed in 5000 means that you will receive 157 REC's
At an average of $30 per REC that's a rebate of $4,710. paid as a point of sale discount.
